Walkthrough Pt. 2 - Cumberland | North Longit | South Longit
Walkthrough Pt. 3 - Steppe | Savannah | Melu | Austeros
Walkthrough Pt. 4 - Comroon | Salamat | Jauda | Torrence | Last Emperor
This last part of the Walkthrough deals with the regions of Comroon Island, Salamat, Jauda, Torrence, and the events triggered by after having defeated at least 5 of the Seven Heroes.
The Introduction excepted, there is no compulsory order for quests and you are free to deal with the quests available to you in any order you want. Nevertheless, some areas are only accessible after completing specific quests, and some quests are only accessible after a certain number of generations have passed. This walkthrough is thus mostly geographic and at times you will have to jump from one section to another: do not let this bother you! Maps of all dungeons are included below; town maps are in the Maps section. If you feel lost or do not know what to do, this Complete Quest List can also serve as a rough check list or reminder.

COMROON ISLAND
Comroon is the theater of two quests related to the volcano Mt. Comroon. You need to Freeze the Lava (continue reading) before Dealing with an Eruption, generations later.
COMROON 1: A TROUBLESOME VOLCANO
TSUKIJIMA
Tsukijima is your port of entry into Comroon.
It is a small village by the Comroon volcano, accessible from Moulie (in Salamat) or Hofah (through the Comroon Strait).
Talking around people in town will open Mt. Comroon, Zemio and the Seer's Citadel.
You need a Stone Boat to access Zemio and may as well get one now! In Tsukijima, take a ship to Moulie: the Stone Boat is in Salamat Jungle on the way to the Amazon Village.
Then head to the Seer's Citadel.
SEER'S CITADEL
Enemies: None now.
Loot: None now.
There are a couple of tricks in this place.
Between the two statues and just before them are two hidden switches (before: East passage to the upper floors / between: North door to the laboratory).
Anyway, go straight up from the entrance to reach the Sorcerer.
There is nothing in the rest of the Citadel at the moment but if you want to have a look around (the map is here), simply go round the statues and walk inbetween them from above to change the path. Before the bedroom, a set of infinite stairs (there is in fact another exit through the south wall).
When you meet the Sorcerer:
- He asks you to help him prevent Mt. Comroon from erupting: if you agree he gives you the Ice Seed.
- If you have found the Stone Boat in Salamat and learnt that some tablets have been missing in Zemio since the Sorcerer came to visit, you can insist asking about that and if your Emperor is rather weak (<256 HP) he will attack you (typical bully, who would trust the guy?). Stun and Confuse (even better: Mad-Bite him) to avoid getting wiped by his strong hit-all techs.
If you defeat him (and get a whooping 6000 TP), he insists that you help him: agree to receive the Ice Seed.
If you refuse, you can actually fight him again! (Cat's Eye or Twilight Robe may drop, on the top of this being arguably the best TP farming spot in the game..)
- You can also shun the Sorcerer and leave things as they stand and do something else. Then 5 generations after the Seer's Citadel appeared on the Regional Map, the lava will have hardened (the Sorcerer managed to do it, we suppose).
MT. COMROON
Enemies: Spirit, Beast, Reptile, Plant, Insect.
Loot: None.
Climb to the top of Mt. Comroon and use the Ice Seed to harden the lava.
Now talk to the Sorcerer again or to the chief in Tsukijima to bring Comroon Island into the Empire (+1000 Crowns to your revenue). Nicely done.
COMROON 2: MORE VOLCANO TROUBLE
5 generations following the Seer's Citadel appearing on the Map, the island faces a new danger of eruption.
First let us drop by the Seer's Citadel.
SEER'S CITADEL
Enemies: Beast, Beastman, Skeleton, Demon, Human, Serpent.
Loot: 400kG, Liberty Staff.
The Seer's Citadel is now overrun by monsters.
The chests on 2F are now accessible (wonderful).
No need to go further unless you are curious (the Sorcerer is sleeping in his bedroom, as an amusing magical answering machine tells us).
Now, there are two main ways to do this: save the island - or not!
In a nutshell: if you save the island, you will be able recruit the Salamanders; if you let the eruption occur, you will be able to access the Umbrology (Dark Magic) Research Facility. It is one or the other.
In Tsukijima, talking to most people triggers an earthquake! Every time! There IS a problem with the volcano (or with the people, haha).
Let's head to Zemio and talk to the Salamander Chief: he urges you to evacuate the island (you are the Emperor after all).
Go back to Tsukijima and talk to the Mayor: all inhabitants flee.
Back to Zemio's Chief again, he asks what you are planning to do and what your real intentions are. You might as well volunteer to help them and receive the Comroon Hammer. (Note that you *must* volunteer if you actually intend to help, otherwise nothing will happen when you reach the top of the volcano.)
Now you can either save the island (see next paragraph just below), or let the volcano erupt.
・Save the Salamanders
If you intend to save the island, head to the top of Mt. Comroon.
Note that you still have time to tweak your party. The Stone at the top is tough, it is protected by unlimited Hellhounds, and your party suffers damage at the end of every turn (except Moles): better be prepared, if you come early. You can even spend the night somewhere (except in Tsukijima, where you must not set foot) before your ascension.
Note also that after talking to the Salamanders' Chief, the island cannot be accessed from Moulie anymore. Which can be a problem if you have not annexed Comroon previously or if you cannot open the way from Hofah.
The Hellhound enemies can be Stunned, Paralyzed (Quarterstaff's mass Halt by a fast character can come in handy) or put to Sleep for example (especially the one on the top, as it is not in the way to the Stone). Their Fire attacks can be negated with Self-Burning.
The Stone has 5k HP, is extremely resistant to magic, and reasonably resistant to all attacks (to Slash attacks even slightly more so).
Have one character good with clubs, because Comroon Hammer's special tech, Grand Buster, is very useful here. I find that early on Martial techs (like Dual Gunner) deal the most damage against the Stone, so a Brawler of kinds might be welcomed.
And of course have at least 3 characters with healing spells to try and keep yourselves in top shape at most times - also because when you finally break the rock, lava gushes forth! (This fire damage can also be negated with Self-Burning.)
Congratulations! it was a difficult battle but Comroon Island is saved.
You can descend freely at last this time (all enemies are gone).
You should also talk to the Chief in Zemio: now you can recruit Salamanders! and gain 400 additional Crowns of income.
And if the island isn't a part of your Empire yet, talk to the Mayor in Tsukijima to annex it.
If you go talk to the Sorcerer in his bedroom he will wake up and at last you learn what his real intentions were! Battle it is (Stun and Confuse/Mad-Bite not to die a painful AoE death!). Defeat him to clear the Citadel of all monsters.
・The Dark Path
On the other hand:
- if instead of Mt. Comroon you go to Tsukijima (where you will have a ringside seat),
- or if you get wiped out while climbing Mt. Comroon,
- or if a generation jump occurs,
then the volcano erupts, Tsukijima is mostly devastated, all of Zemio except the room of records is engulfed (-1000G to your revenue, and you won't be able to recruit Salamanders), and a new Island has emerged from the ocean!
EMERGED ISLAND
Enemies: Amphibian, Aquatic, Flying, Skeleton, Undead, Inorganic, Demon.
Loot: Poseidon's Spear, Sage Rod, Twilight Robe, 200kG.
The ruins of the Emerged Island are quite straightforward. Don't forget to grab the chest on your way down.
At the bottom of the ruins on the Emerged Island is a chest, and what happens there depends on your previous actions.
1. If in this current event you did not wake up the Sorcerer after the eruption,
then the chest is guarded by an Undead enemy (if you get wiped by this enemy, you will be in case 2 next time): defeat it and the Sorcerer appears. He wants to take the Ancient Tome: if you accept he disappears (no Dark Magic for you); if you refuse it results in a battle. Stun and Madden him to win without much trouble. After your ruler has abdicated (note that if this is the Last Emperor, you lose one party member instead) and you have chosen their successor, go back to the bottom of the Emerged Island and open the chest: in addition to the other items you get the Ancient Tome.
2. If in the previous Comroon event you used the Ice Seed to solidify the lava,
and if in this event you woke him up after the eruption,
then the Sorcerer is there: talk to him. If you let him go he disappears (and you won't be able to use Dark Magic); if you stop him, battle it is! You are facing a special Sorcerer who can use Dark Magic and is strangely worth half his usual Technical Points (3000 instead of 6000). No matter: defeat him to get the tome eventually.
3. If in the previous event you did not use the Ice Seed,
and if in this event you woke up the Sorcerer after the eruption,
then the Sorcerer is there and he disappears with the Tome.
If you got the Ancient Tome, you can unlock Dark Magic (Umbrology): go to the Magic Research Facility, Cosmology Room, and talk to anyone but the Strategist (who recommends you to throw away this abomination) and let them research the tome. The Umbrology Room is actually hidden outside the Facility: get out of the building and head East right away, passing in front of the Tower, into the forest. See the Magic Section.

SALAMAT
Salamat is the name of the Region as well as the name of its central hostile area.
In Salamat you can meet with the Amazons, deal with the situation in Eirunep and her Tower where Rocbouquet is, and in the Eirunep Shrine learn about the Sunken Tower.
SALAMAT
Enemies: Flying, Snake, Plant, Fish.
Salamat is a large jungley crossroads that connects several places:
N-W: Savannah
N-E: Moulie
E: Sunken Tower (access blocked until you learn about it)
S-E: Amazon Village
S: Eirunep
W: Jauda (access blocked from Salamat)
There is actually nothing to do in Moulie..
Talk to any of the people walking around to open it on the Regional Map eventually.
The boat conveniently brings you to Tsukijima (Comroon Island).
The Amazons
On the way to the Village of the Amazons you see a woman surrounded by beasts: help her as an Empress to be able to recruit Amazons.
In the Amazon Village you can learn important information regarding the Queen of Eirunep.
By the way, (male) emperors will only get the choice to run away, or be chased away, haha.
In the mini-map where you help the Amazon, there is a hidden pitfall (that leads to a cave with Skeleton and Inorganic enemies): Dash to jump over it. On the left, half-hidden, is the Stone Boat. You need it to access Zemio (Comroon Island). You can pick it up; it makes you really slow and unable to dash or jump properly.
Do not bother carrying it around and back to Comroon Island: in your Inventory, discard it! it will be (magically) transferred to the Storeroom in Avalon (like anything you throw away, actually): you can collect it there later (which is much easier) and bring it to Zemio.
EIRUNEP
Only men live in Eirunep (it may be a coincidence, but Eirunep is backward is 'pénurie', which is a 'lack' or 'shortage' in French!) and they seem to love their Queen!
In Eirunep you have readily access to Eirunep Tower, and in the N-E is a path to Eirunep Shrine.
EIRUNEP TOWER
Enemies: Beastman, Undead, Serpent, Beast, Demon, Human, Plant.
Loot: None.
Eirunep Tower gives you the solutions of the 'puzzles' and 'secrets' that you can find later in the Sunken Tower, so keep your eyes open ; )
Go up to the top then all the way down down to witness a girl apparently attacked by a plant.
The Ruffle Tree is susceptible to Airwave (and Insta-kill) so do not hesitate, because it is a difficult battle if you come here early.
The Queen thanks and praises you in an annoyingly simpering manner (brilliantly rendered! in Japanese at least) and asks for another favor: Could you defeat the Guardian of Eirunep Shrine for me? puh-lease?
・If you have already defeated the Guardian, the Queen rejoices and leaves. Your next destination can be Eirunep Shrine: its basement is now full of monsters and one even blocks the path to the 'vision' at the end. In the Sunken Tower too there will be additional enemies.
・If you accept, you are teleported to Eirunep Shrine and must face the Guardian (the Queen won't let you go back on your word). See the next section Eirunep Shrine.
Note that you can only Accept if your previous Emperor had been Charmed and you were defeated by the Guardian.
・If you refuse: if you are an Empress, nothing happens; if you are an Emperor, battle it is!
You know it from the music playing: the Queen is one of the Seven Heroes! (But you knew that already if you had talked to the Amazon in their Village.) Like all Heroes Rocbouquet is immune to all status ailments. Mind that her HP regenerates in Dark magic environment so get your Light magic ready.
Her Temptation can be countered with female sidekicks, and by making males invisible (and the best luck would be to learn the corresponding Evade Tech during the battle, which you should actually aim at) or equipping them with Mind immunity items (but this prevents from learning the Evade Tech).
- If you lose the battle or if your Emperor is Tempted (Charmed), you are forced to face the Guardian (see next section: Eirunep Shrine).
- If you win, Salamat becomes part of the Empire (revenue +1400G). Good job!
The women will be back in Eirunep too.
Note that you can now proceed to Eirunep Shrine normally but that there is nothing at the very end of the Sunken Tower.
Note also that when the women are back to Eirunep you can recruit the Amazon in the Pub.
EIRUNEP SHRINE
Enemies: Guardian (+).
Loot: None.
The Guardian of the Eirunep Shrine is susceptible to Stun, so (ab)use this to prevent him from murdering your party (remove all your non-stat-boosting equipment to be faster). If you come here early, it is a long battle which you should win without too much trouble nevertheless.
At the end of the Shrine, you gain the knowledge and the way to the Twin Tower, now Sunken.
SUNKEN TOWER
Enemies: Inorganic, Aquatic, Ghost, Skeleton, Flying, Spirit, Undead, Serpent, Water Dragon.
Loot: Ladyhawk, 400kG.
There is a special enemy in the Sunken Tower: the Water Dragon, in a room full of them. It has a nice rare drop and XP but it is a difficult battle.
Now:
- If you have already defeated Rocbouquet in Eirunep Tower, there is nothing at the bottom of the Sunken Tower.
- If you came here without talking to Rocbouquet at all before that, at the bottom the Water Dragon talks about the origin of the Tower and its link to the Seven Heroes. There is no battle and you should go back to Eirunep Tower to meet the Queen properly.
Otherwise, the 'Queen' is at the bottom of the Tower, behind a Water Dragon.
The Water Dragon has the lowest HP among the dragons (just over 10k HP) but it is immune to all status ailments, plays twice per turn, and regens in Water (or Dark) environment. It is a very tough fight if you are here early!
After defeating it:
- If you are a Male Emperor and if you have been charmed by Rocbouquet in Eirunep, she tells you to buzz off, and you obey, haha (go back to the surface by yourself).
Note: This is the case even if, after having been charmed, you had changed your (Male) Emperor character or class, or had Time-Jumped and done so.
Note: Fighting Rocbouquet in Eirunep and being defeated by her the normal way (party down) equals having been charmed, even if your Emperor never was Charmed and learnt the Temptation Evade during the battle, for example.
- If not (i.e. either 1) you are an Empress, or 2) you have never been defeated by Rocbouquet as an Emperor), you must face Rocbouquet. The Queen is in fact one of the Seven Heroes, as you may already know. Her Temptation is devastating (a Charmed Emperor means party wipe) but can be countered with a party of female sidekicks and by making males invisible (and the best luck would be to learn the corresponding Evade Tech during the battle) or equipping them with Mind immunity items (but this prevents from learning the Evade Tech).
By defeating her you gain control of the Salamat region (income +1400G), and Eirunep, the Sunken Tower and Salamat appear on the Regional Map.
The women also come back to Eirunep and you can recruit Amazons in the Pub.
***
JAUDA
In Jauda start a series of events leading to your confrontation with Wagnas.
YUYAN - LIANGSHAN - CASTLE CHONTO - LIANGSHAN
A ship from Teretuva brings you to Yuyan.
If you have not annexed the Melu Region yet, there is not much to do here.
After defeating Queen in the Savannah, you can start the Bard Quest by asking the Bartender for a drink, which also opens Mt. Chikapa on the Regional Map. Talk to a customer in the Pub to open roads to Salamat.
After making Melu part of the Empire, have a look around: one NPC walking in town opens Castle Chonto, another Liangshan.
In Yuyan, and in Liangshan from Sekishusai, we learn that Wagnas of Castle Hakuro threatens the region.
Let us head to Castle Chonto: on the last floor, Lord Ato is not the most welcoming host (well, the Empire *is* quite expansionist) and you are quickly shown the door. Ato has the rich idea to try to parley and join hands with Wagnas, to which Sekishusai opposes but he is still bound to his Lord..
In Liangshan, talk to Sekishusai, to no avail.
Now let us go back to Castle Chonto for a more aggressive approach.
CASTLE CHONTO
Enemies: Beast, Demon, Flying, Human, Beastman,
Loot: 150kG, Legendary Plover.
You can now grab the content of the two chests on your way up.
At the top, a stationary Demon enemy possibly several levels above yours.
In the last room behind, Sekishusai insists on protecting King Ato.. Battle it is!
It does not matter if you win or lose, so you might as well try to grab those 1000 Tech Points.
Sekishusai mainly uses counters: you know what to do.
Neither does it matter if you forgive Ato or not: Wagnas is now our next target!
Go back to Lianshang and talk with Sekishusai's grandson, Jubei: you can recruit Levante Guards now.
Talk to any of the four people walking around in town to open Hakuro Castle on the Regional Map.
Notes:
- If a Generation Jump occurs before you clear the Castle Chonto event, Sekishusai is nowhere to be found and you cannot recruit East Guards. Talk to the people in town to open Castle Hakuro. In Castle Chonto, only the stationary Demon remains, instead of King Ato. (We suppose that Wagnas' minions took care of everyone.)
- If a Generation Jump occurs after clearing the Castle Chonto event, monsters are back in Castle Chonto. East Guards can be recruited only if you talked to them (trigger) before the Jump.
CASTLE HAKURO
Enemies: Human, Flying, Amphibian, Beastman, Beast, Demon,
Loot: 400kG.
Things do not work in your favor in Castle Hakuro: because of a locked door you have to go the long way round.
In the S-E tower, 1F, is a chest with Crowns.
The boss is the stationary Human enemy. When you defeat it, Wagnas appears, and takes the castle with him in the sky..
Now all monsters are gone and the previously locked door is convenienty unlocked, but before leaving do not forget to go around the hole to the back for a chest with more money.
On the Regional Map, you can see now the Castle Hakuro floating over Castle Chonto.
Note that if you go do something else and a generation skip occurs, the Floating Castle may move to Yuyan or Liangshan; if so, all townsfolks will have disappeared, which may be inconvenient!
There are three ways to reach this Castle in the Sky.
Note that once you are in the sky, there is no going back to resupply or rest and this is a rather long dungeon with lots of enemies difficult or impossible to avoid: come prepared (have some SP/MP recovery usable items handy).
To get into the Floating Castle you can either:
1) get the Windmaker from Hiraga 11+ with a Strong Emperor and just head into Castle Chonto. (Note that when you use it it breaks but goes back to your warehouse in Avalon.)
2) or get help from the Iris, but you need to complete the Bard Quest first to access the Iris Village. Then talk to the stationary Iris and ask for a ride.
3) or if your Emperor is an Iris, you can just fly your way up.
FLOATING CASTLE
Enemies: Undead, Skeleton, Plant, Beastman, Beast, Human, Spirit, Demon,
Loot: Vorpal Sword, Vorpal Axe, Barrier Stone, 390kG.
Midway through the Floating Hakuro Castle, an ominous sight, and you can battle the Ice Dragon.
Careful: it hits very hard: don't let it! Stun it! Madden it!
A little further is Wagnas who is curious about whether you have been having fun or not..
Wagnas is a Demon Harpie Magician who will come at you with Fire and Light magic mostly, which means that Self-Burning can negate a good number of its attacks, including its own Self-Burning. Wall of Fire can negate some of them too, and makes a nice combo with fast formations like Rapid Stream if you don't have a fast caster. Wagnas only gets one attack per turn, so all in all it is not too bad nor difficult with a little luck.
If your Emperor has more than 700 HP, Wagnas has evolved, but even easier if you come slightly prepared.
And with this Jauda becomes part of the Empire and adds 3600 Crowns to your income!
***
BARD QUEST
A worldwide hunt for the music instruments of our favorite Poet!
Trigger: Defeat the Queen in the Savannah.
For this quest you need access to Mole Village / Termite Den, to Nuono (or Sunken Ship) and to the room of records in Zemio, and you need to have cleared the East Oubliette.
Note that if you didn't use the Stone Boat in Zemio and if you let Mt. Comroon erupt, this quest cannot be completed.
Ultimately you can recruit Iris and gain access to the Torrence region.
JAUDA: Yuyan
The quest starts here. Ask the bartender for a drink: the Bard went North.
SALAMAT: Moulie
North, in Moulie, talk to the ferryman, who says that the Bard took the boat. Let's do that too.
COMROON ISLAND: Tsukijima - Zemio
In Tsukijima pub, talk to the young man at the bottom left: the Bard went to meet the Salamanders.
In Zemio, the Salamander walking around in the house on the right tells us that the Bard left one of his instruments (grab his Guitar in the Room of Records) and went to Cumberland.
CUMBERLAND: Hofah
Talk to the little girl running around down south to hear more of the song and learn that the Bard went to the Steppe.
STEPPE: Nomad Village
One of the two little boys gives you more song to listen to and the info that the Bard went to the Savannah.
SAVANNAH: Ponente - Ostro - Termite Den
The little girl in Ponente tells us the Bard went to see the Moles.
In Moleville, talk to the last Mole before the Queen: we learn that the Bard forgot one of his instruments (his Conga in the last room nearby) and went to the desert.
MELU: Teretuva
The little boy tells us that the Bard crossed the Western Desert: let us do that too, to reach..
SOUTH LONGIT: Atlanticus - Toba - Sunken Ship or NORTH LONGIT: Nuono
Talk to the boatman in Atlanticus to learn that the Bard crossed to Toba but his ship was attacked!
We learn more in Toba from the old lady at the entry of the village: thanks to his songs he was spared but lost one of his instruments, and went to Nazelle.
You might already have gotten hold of the Bard's Bassoon in Nuono during the Garon Event.
If not there are several cases possible:
- Before the Garon event if you subdued the Armed Merchants or made them surrender, talk to the leader in Nuono (or in the New Town in Avalon) to get the instrument. Note that this is the only way if you are with the Last Emperor.
- Garon event: get it in the secret lair, during or after the event.
- Sunken Ship event: behind Garon-Ghost.
NAZELLE: Saigo Village
The little boy at the entrance tells us the Bard went to the Western Cave (Bardic Grotto), now open on the Map, that an instrument is there, and that he went North afterwards. Get the Flute at the end of the Bardic Grotto, and head North to Avalon.
VARENNES: Avalon
Talk to one of the kids running around town: they tell you that the Bard went to the Inn.
At the Inn, if you enquire, you learn that he went away in a hurry (where to this time, we wonder!): go check the table drawer of the smaller room to get his Horn.
Congratulations! After our little World Tour we now have all 5 of Bard's musical instruments.
Note that you could have just grabbed the 5 instruments without talking to anyone (except to trigger the quest and to open the Bardic Grotto), but it is just much more fun chasing after their elusive owner, isn't it?! ; )
Anyway, this is not over just yet. We did not get to meet the Bard, but all this had a purpose: now let us climb Mount Chikapa.
JAUDA: Mt Chikapa
MT. CHIKAPA
Enemies: Plant, Flying, Inorganic, Beast, Serpent, Spirit, Insect, Demon, Amphibian.
Loot: None.
At the end of the road of Mt. Chikapa, after the mountain top, your party decides to enjoy the fresh air and gives a concert (5 instruments, 5 party members: just perfect), which pleases the Iris, who invites you to their Village.
IRIS VILLAGE
Loot: Elven Shawl, Starlight Bow, 200kG.
Here you can recruit Iris.
If you are looking for a way into the Floating Castle, the same Iris can transport you there.
You cannot access the Southern part of the Village until either you defeat Wagnas or she is the last of the Seven Heroes standing.
Beyond are 3 chests and the way to Torrence.
Before heading to Torrence, talk to the Iris who tells you about a town on the other side of the mountain to open the Forgotten Town on the Map.
***
TORRENCE
Unfortunately, Torrence can only be accessed through Mt. Chikapa.
The region cannot be annexed. There is only one place to visit:
FORGOTTEN TOWN
Loot: Divine Longinus, Holy Buster.
Open it by talking to the Iris that flies around in the Iris Village.
Have a look around this strange Forgotten Town to learn who these people are, and the story of the Seven Heroes.
We meet an acquaintance from long ago, Orieve, who has much to say. (As the Last Emperor, you can only hear her story if you didn't talk to her in Avalon when you reincarnated.)
East from her house and East from the right elephant statue into the forest is a hidden path to the next flight of stairs.
Talk to the man walking around the last section in town to open the Firn Ruins.
In the last building are two nice weapons, Divine Longinus (spear) and Holy Buster (Mace).
***
THE LAST EMPEROR
Once you have defeated 5 or more of the Seven Heroes, the next Generation Skip only leaves you the choice of the character you named at the very beginning of the game (if you remember?): your Final Ruler.
If their party gets wiped out it is Game Over! But if the Final Emperor or Empress runs out of LP, the 2nd party member dies instead, and the Emperor revives with half their original max LP.
Upon being reincarnated, You Have Mail! from a certain Kzinssie, who is waiting for you in the Sealed Cave.
If you have not visited the Forgotten Town and talked to Orieve yet, she comes to visit and explains everything if you talk to her. (If you do not talk to her now, she will be as usual in the Forgotten Town.)
On your way, talk to the children who have been running around town since the beginning of the game - several hundreds or thousands of years ago.. - to get nice items (you need to have space in your Inventory to receive the Crown and the Thousand Cranes).
There are three quests specific to the Last Emperor: a Termite invasion in Avalon (just below), the Sealed Cave v2, and the Last Dungeon. And one additional quest in the Remaster edition: Victor's Ghost.
Note that not all regular quests (you may have some left, it just happens, sometimes) can be completed with the Last Emperor. See the Early Last Emperor section for details.
0) VICTOR'S GHOST (Remaster Only)
In Victor's old bedroom in Avalon Castle 2F (top left), an official claims some have seen a ghost, maybe the ghost of Victor (Gerard's big brother, in case you had forgotten), who wanted to bring together all people. If you have annexed Comroon and unlocked and talked at least once to all Character Classes (except Salamanders & Coppelia), sleep in your bed: you can move about at night (although you cannot go anywhere). The ghost has appeared indeed: talk to him and accept to start a duel with Victor's Ghost.
Note: This Event cannot be triggered if the Termite Invasion has reached its last stage (when you cannot sleep in your bed), or if the Garon Event is ongoing (during which the Armed Merchant is considered as locked and is effectively absent from Avalon New City if you have built it). If you are curious about the testing and double-checking of this event, see the Trivia section for details.
Sword Barrier and a high Bolt defense will make things very easy.
Note that if you are defeated, you lose 1 LP but you can challenge him again anytime (go back to sleep twice).
Defeat him and in the morning, above your bed is a chest with a very useful Intaglio Ring. Thanks, Victor!
1) HOME INFESTATION
If you have defeated the Termite Queen, an event actually starts in secret as your Last Emperor reincarnates and sits on the throne.
In the depths of Avalon, over many centuries, one egg that had survived the Savannah ordeal has evolved into a colony of termites that is ready to conquer the world!
As 'time' (generational battle count) passes in this last generation, the termites quickly multiply and take over places and people's bodies.. like so:
1) Termites are only found in the room where the Real Queen is;
2) after 2 battles, the termites (Termite Battler enemies & Co.) colonize the room above (with the hole);
3) after 6, the underground cemetery;
4) after 12, the Thieves Guild people turn into termites;
5) after 14, they reach the sewers and its exit pathways;
6) after 18, the owner of the armor shop turns into a termite;
7) after 24, if you sit on the throne the whole town turns into termites (except the Nereid and the Mole, who hints at the location of the culprit - in the New City if you have built it), you cannot exit the town and can only rest in Cat's bed (accessed via the roofs).
To find the source of these troubles, go to the underground cemetery, push the second tombstone down from the top right, and follow the (rather short) path. In the case you want to prevent later stages of the invasion, just go there as early as you can, haha.
AVALON (Termite Den)
Enemies: Termite Battler.
Loot: Avalonian Robe, 250kG.
Be wary of the Termite Battlers: their Stone Shower can annihilate your party in a blink: impede or kill them first.
The Real Queen will attempt to Paralyze you, Seduce you, Poison you, Petrify you and put you to Sleep while hitting you with Sonic attacks. But Stun will make this battle much easier. (Note that an early Stun prevents both attacks, while an early Sleep followed by a hit that wakes her up cancels only one attack.)
And that's that: congratulations!
2) SEALED CAVE (2)
(Note that if Kzinssie is the last of the Seven Heroes, the Sealed Cave will be void of enemies and there will be nothing at the end of the Cave: just go grab the treasures and get out to face the Last Dungeon.)
Let us now reply to Kzinssie's invitation properly.
Don't forget to equip the Soulsteal Evade ; )
Back to the very beginning of our adventure!
Enemies: Insect, Inorganic, Beast, Reptile, Beastman, Plant, Fish, Aquatic, Undead, Skeleton, Ghost.
Loot: Black Gardiehl, Tiger Armor, 250kG.
Go down, grab the three chests on your way, then meet Kzinssie, again.
He will throw enemies at you first, but battle it is, of course.
He will target preferably your character with the lowest HP, so keep yourself in shape.
Missile Guard is useful against Cyclone.
3) THE LAST DUNGEON
When there is only one of the Seven Heroes left, a Throne Message tells you that there is trouble South of the Nazelle Strait.
Once you are ready, cross it one last time (from Nazelle Regional Map) to the Snowdrifts.
SNOWDRIFTS / DEN OF UMBRAGE (Frozen Sea)
Enemies: Demon, Beastman, Giant, Ice Dragon, Fish, Aquatic, Insect, Beast, Serpent, DFairy, Flying, Inorganic, Plant, Undead, Skeleton, Ghost, Amphibian, Human.
Loot: None..
In the first section you can fight Cyclops, a strong Giant enemy worth 2800 TP. Like most Giants, they can be Stunned (or put to Sleep or Poisoned). Unfortunately they don't drop anything. South, Dash to jump over the ridge to the next section.
In the second area, an Ice Dragon is flying around. Just like the giant, Stun it to make your life easier. You can avoid it too.
Get into the elevator (now we understand that those 4 empty caves in the first area are frozen elevators) to reach a very colorful section and natural hot springs that would have been better enjoyed in another context.
Next, the layout of the floor will slightly change as you walk on switches.
Another section, then at the end of the path, up the stairs, is the last of your Seven Heroes.
At the bottom of the stairs you got a no-return message but you can still go back at this point. Once you defeat the Last Hero you cannot go back; if you attempt to move forward, there is another pop-up message and this is the real deal: accept to start the Last Battle.
The Seven Heroes..
A slightly changed Rocbouquet comes at you first. Set up your barriers and buffs right from the start: you might just do that while the fight is easy; the buffs will last for the whole battle (unless your character goes down ofc) but the individual barriers will be cancelled at the beginning of the last phase by an enemy spell.
6000 dmg later, Subier joins the fray.
6000 dmg later, Noel appears.
Then Bokhohn, Dantarg, Kzinssie, Wagnas join in random order, one at a time, every time you bring the newcomer's HP (6000 each) to zero.
Every time a new Hero appears, they get one additional attack per turn until the Seven Heroes are all there, which means that when there are 6 Heroes, they get 6 actions per turn. But when the 7th appears, their number of actions will actually depend on your Total Battle Count, which means that if you have played normally (no grinding), there are high odds that at that last stage they will get a lot fewer attacks than previously (i.e. as few as 2 actions per turn).
The last phase starts with Vortex (which removes all magic shields), Abyss Gate & Astral Gate, which can Confuse heavily and make Invisible the Gated character (which can be quite troublesome: Mind immunity is useful here).
While Abyss Gate is active, the Seven Heroes regen 999 HP per turn. It can be cancelled by Cosmology spells but Abyss/Astral Gate will trigger again.
The Seven Heroes have now 65535 HP: keep yourselves healed and hit them with what you have at your disposal. If you have a low battle count, it should be long(er) but easy if you have the Temptation Ward.
If you have a high battle count, you have top defensive and offensive spells and techs, and it should be all right too, haha.
Congratulations!
Lay back and enjoy the ending.
After the traditional battling credits, a chronology sums up the accomplishments of your rulers, and we are back at the Pub in Avalon with our favorite and elusive Bard for the epilog..
